Backpacker Trip Barcelona

BRIEF OVERVIEW
A very laid back and friendly place, Barcelona gives you a taste of the beautiful beaches the Mediterranean has to offer. You're only there for a day so you'll want to make the most of it. Barcelona doesn't have the best airport, I'd prepare some time to arrive/depart.

WHERE TO EAT, DRINK
Don't forget in Spain, dinner is late, 9-10pm. Bars get going around 10, clubs at midnight. Clubs close when the sun rises and work starts.
Bar Marsella - Famous for their clientele that once attended.. Gaudi, Hemingway.. you get the idea. Cool vibe, nicely lit, good selection of drinks. They are especially famous for their absinthe Link here
Seafood - You'll get your choices if you walk down the pier. If you take Las Rambla towards the water, there will be several restaurants to choose from. Pick one of them by rock paper scissors and enjoy the very fresh seafood. Not the cheapest of places, but you'll be doing yourself a favor. Lunch or dinner.

Pinotxo - A very popular, very well rounded tapas bar in the best part of the city (best as in coolest). Cheap tapas, good selection and on La Rambla. Can't ask for much more. Link here.
Milk - Another cool bar, funky seats, comfy couches, nothing too crazy here. They are big on cocktails. Link here

WHAT TO DO
You have to go to Las Rambla. It is the busiest street in Barcelona and is an artery for shops/restaurants/bars and tourism for the heart of the city. From here you can access the port, which will eventually take you down to the beach.
Gaudi - This guy is everywhere in Barcelona. Go check out Sagrada Familia. It looks kind of ugly, but it is really a work of art. You can walk up the staircase and get an awesome view of the city.
Guell Park - Awesome park, amateur performers, singers, dancers, the whole lot. A very cool place to chill out.
Beach - Beaches here are pretty awesome and not far from town. I would ask your hotel staff what the good spot is at the time.
Gothic Quarter - A collection of impressive Gothic houses and buildings that are super old. Very cool to stroll around.
Casa Batllo - A interesting house in an upscale part of Barcelona. One of 2 houses that Gaudi built that can actually be toured. The external is just as impressive as the inside, should really be seen.

WHERE TO STAY

The Kabul - $30 a night. I've stayed here before. They renovated a few years ago and it is right in the heart of Las Rambla. It is near the beach and close to really anything you may want to do in Barcelona. You'll get free Wi-Fi (20 minutes a day), free breakfast and they have a bar on the premises.
