TIP: If you don’t already have an A-Z Guide to London, get one. It is helpful in finding all of the streets and neighborhoods you will want to explore in London.

Explore These Neighborhoods

  • Camden
  1. oDenmark St – Famous “Tin Pan Alley”, British (and non-British) musicians used to hang out and record there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denmark_Street
  • SoHo
  • Oxford Circus – good for shopping for family and friends, if you wanted to.

Fresh Air Markets

  • Borough Market – Southwark, Central London. Good people-watching; on Saturdays, you can get lots of free samples to eat.
  • Brick Lane – Sundays 8am to 2pm. Located on northern end of Brick Lane and along Cheshire Street in east London.

  • Wagamama – Ramen Noodle Bar. Many locations.
  • Pret A Manger – Sandwiches, soups and salads. Many locations.
  • Golden Union Fish Bar - Fish & Chips. 102 Farringdon Road, London, EC1R 3EA.
  • Eat – Sandwiches, soups and salads. Many locations.
  • Wong Kei - Chinese Restaurant / famous for being rude, but also famous for being inexpensive
  • Beatroot - Vegetarian in SoHo
  • Tesco, Sainsbury, Marks and Spencer – Chain food markets with decent, cheap food. In my opinion, Marks & Spencer is pretty posh, but the best microwave food.

Attractions/Things to See

  • Speakers' Corner - north-east corner of Hyde Park in London. “Open-air public speaking”. Anyone can talk about anything they want.
  • See “Big Ben” – Located at the north end of the Palace of Westminster.
  • Primrose Hill – You can get a spectacular view of central London http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primrose_Hill
  • Richmond Park - 2500 acres this is the largest Royal Park. Holly Lodge, London, TW10 5HS Tube: Richmond Station
  • Apple Store – Located on the corner of Regent Street and Hanover Street near Oxford Circus.
  • Skateboard Park - Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, SE1, 020-7960 4200, southbankcentre.co.uk
  • Barbican Centre - Silk Street, 020-7638 4141, barbican.org.uk I think the architecture is cool.
  • “Alternative London Tours” - http://www.alternativeldn.co.uk. I haven’t taken this tour myself, but from what I’ve read, it will take you through some of the neighborhoods I mentioned in East London. This might be a good place to start, and then you can explore on your own. J
